ABOUT
Legendary GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb and high-energy, family-friendly folk band The Hollow Trees will kick off the release of their upcoming new album, That’s What It’s All About, dropping the lead single, “If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d’ve Baked a Cake,” on Sept 8.
The new 11-track album, which follows Loeb’s acclaimed 2020 album, A Simple Trick To Happiness, was inspired by the many songs passed down from generation to generation, and the precious memories they carry with them.
The beloved classic from the 1950s, “If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake,” written by Al Hoffman, Bob Merrill, and Clem Watts, is a perfect first single to welcome you to the album of old-time favorites and originals inspired by them.
“The Hollow Trees and I put together a collection of songs that I remember playing with my dad on the piano as a kid, listening to on hi-fi in the den, and on the radio on visits to my grandparents in Sweetwater, Texas,” says Loeb.
That’s What It’s All About is not only a celebration of Loeb’s own childhood nostalgia, but also an homage to the generational connections and cherished songs that transcend time.
“If I Knew You Were Coming I’d’ve Baked a Cake” was on the top of the song list for both Loeb and The Hollow Trees.
“I have always loved singing about food, and I know The Hollow Trees do as well, so recording the song was a piece of cake,” Loeb quips.
Not only does Loeb have an entire album called Cake and Pie, but she’s written songs like “The Disappointing Pancake,” and loves classics like “Peanut Butter & Jelly,” and “Found a Peanut.” And, The Hollow Trees often sing delicious songs like “What Do You Want on Your Taco?” and “Salad for Breakfast," and others.
